Our hiking trips in Greece

Guided or self-guided: what’s the right fit for you?

Our guided tours in Greece provide the comfort of a meticulously planned trip led by an expert local guide. You can immerse yourself in the experience while we handle the logistics, all within a friendly small-group atmosphere. For those who cherish independence, our self-guided walking holidays offer the perfect blend of freedom and support. We provide detailed maps, route notes, and pre-booked accommodations, allowing you to explore at your own pace with complete peace of mind.

Our flagship destinations: Crete and the Cyclades

Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, is a paradise for hikers, boasting legendary landscapes from the White Mountains to the famous Samaria Gorge. Explore the island’s wild heart on our hiking tour in Crete, a journey through dramatic gorges, ancient sites, and welcoming coastal villages. In the heart of the Aegean, the Cyclades islands offer a different kind of magic. Experience the quintessential Greek islands with a Cyclades tour, island hopping between gems like Sifnos and Milos, following ancient cobbled paths that connect brilliant white villages to secluded coves.

Practical advice for walking in Greece

When is the best time to go?

The ideal seasons for hiking in Greece are spring and autumn. During spring (April to June), the landscapes are lush and vibrant with wildflowers, and temperatures are pleasantly mild. Similarly, autumn (September and October) offers comfortable weather, warm seas, and fewer crowds, making it perfect for exploring the trails. We generally avoid the peak summer months of July and August due to the intense heat.

How to prepare for your trip?

Proper preparation is key to a successful hiking trip. We recommend sturdy, broken-in hiking boots, lightweight layers of clothing, and robust sun protection, including a hat and sunscreen. Staying hydrated is crucial, so a reusable water bottle is a must. For a comprehensive list of what to bring, consult our day hike packing list to ensure you have all the essentials for a comfortable and safe adventure.

—  These are some really beautiful hikes, but June 10–19 is a little too late in the season because of the heat. For most of the hikes, it’s impossible to set out early due to bus schedules and breakfast times at the hotels.

—  We are very happy with the itinerary and with the hike itself, which crosses magnificent landscapes and offers various options to take shortcuts by boat at certain points. The hotels chosen are good and comfortable, except the one in Omalos, which is now dated and not very well maintained (we had stayed there in 2013 and nothing has changed). Everywhere the reception and service staff were friendly, warm, efficient, and full of good advice.
