Conditions of sale

Grand Angle Conditions of Sale

Grand Angle defines its conditions of sale (COS) according to the specificities of its trips. Any purchase of a trip implies acceptance of these conditions. In the event of any contradiction between the "Terms of Service" in the brochure and those on the grandangletours.com website (hereinafter the “Site”), the latter shall prevail.

We would like to inform you that the travel packages offered by Grand Angle are considered “packages” within the meaning of the law, and that as such, you benefit from the rights set out in article 13 below.

1/ Our travel offers

Our website provides detailed information on the nature and specifics of each trip. In particular, you can consult the program day by day, practical information about the destination and all the information you need to make your trip a success (level of physical involvement, minimum number of participants, etc.).

A “Rates and Reservations” section will give you an indication of the price of the trip on the date in question.
In the event of a contradiction between the information on a trip contained in our offer (brochure, partner websites other than grandangletours.com, etc.) and that shown on the technical data sheet available from Grand Angle or on its website, the latter will prevail.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that our trips may require a greater or lesser degree of physical commitment. We therefore recommend that you carefully read the information on the level of physical commitment required to undertake the trip in question. It is up to each participant to determine, on the basis of the information provided, whether they have the necessary capabilities.

If you have any doubts, please contact Grand Angle or any specialist (e.g. your doctor if you have a medical history) to confirm that you are fit to undertake the trip.

Our range of trips includes accompanied or unaccompanied tours for groups or families, as well as tailor-made trips that can be designed according to your current desires, with the help of one of our advisors.

1.1. Self-guided trip

Self-guided trip allows you to travel without a guide and without worrying about organization or logistics. We propose an itinerary for which we book your accommodation, luggage transfers and other services according to options, and you receive a travel booklet containing the documents you need to complete your trip. For some trips, a minimum of two adults may be required.

1.2. Guided trip

1.2.1 Group size

Accompanied tours allow you to travel in a small group with a guide. The maximum group size for each trip is indicated on the data sheet. However, the maximum number may be exceeded by one if the last person to register wishes to travel with another person. Services will remain unchanged, and travel conditions will be identical.

1.2.2 Authority of supervisors

The supervisory staff chosen by Grand Angle and its partners (mountain guides, mid-mountain guides, ski instructors, cycling instructors, etc.) to accompany any group of travellers have sole discretion during the trip to carry out or modify the planned program in order to ensure the safety of the travellers and the smooth running of the trip, or even to deal with unforeseen circumstances. It also has the right to suspend and/or interrupt the trip of one or more travellers for safety reasons. An alternative trip will be offered to the traveler(s) concerned, who will assume any additional costs. Depending on weather conditions, the state of the terrain and the physical condition of the travelers, Grand Angle or the tour leader may have to offer travelers an adapted program and/or the presence of an additional guide. Any additional costs will be borne by the traveler. No reimbursement will be made if the trip is interrupted at the initiative of any traveler.

1.3. Tailor-made tours

With the help of our advisors, you can put together a personalized trip, according to your wishes, on your own or accompanied, based on an existing tour or not. All you have to do is request a quote from our agency, by telephone and/or via our website.

1.4. Family travel

Grand Angle offers escorted tours specially designed for families; these tours are only available to participants traveling with at least one minor child. Grand Angle also offers self-guided tours and stays adapted for families.

2/ Registration and payment

2.1. Registration

You can register for our trips on our website by filling in the booking form, or by contacting one of our advisors (by post, telephone or email by requesting a paper form or downloading one from our website).

Your registration is definitive upon receipt of your order on the website or by telephone, or upon receipt of the completed, dated and signed registration form (BI), and, in all cases, payment of the trip price in accordance with article 2.2, depending on the departure date.

We inform you that the person making the registration in the name and on behalf of all the participants in the trip undertakes to pass on to each traveler all the information provided by Grand Angle concerning the trip. In accordance with article L 221-28 of the French Consumer Code, you do not benefit from a withdrawal period for the purchase of travel services.

2.2. Terms of payment

For all bookings made more than 60 days prior to departure, Grand Angle will collect a deposit of 30% of the total cost of the trip.

The balance of the trip price must be paid, without any reminder from us, and collected by Grand Angle no later than 60 days before the departure date.

Any delay in the payment of a deposit and/or the balance will be considered as a cancellation on your part, for which the cancellation fees referred to in article 5 below will be applied.

For bookings made 60 days or less before departure, you must pay the full cost of the trip.

Special case of cruise trips and/or trips with boat accommodation: registration more than 60 days before departure: payment of 60% of the total cost of the trip. Payment in full within 60 days of departure.

You can pay for your trip by credit card (Visa, Eurocard, Mastercard only, Amex not accepted), bank cheque, vacation vouchers (for any destination in France including overseas territories and the European Union) or in cash up to the limit stipulated in article D 112-3 of the French Monetary and Financial Code (i.e. 1000 euros per booking).

If the booked trip is full and/or unavailable, Grand Angle will reimburse all sums paid as soon as possible, without withholding any sums.

2.3. Invoice

For all payments validated and cashed by Grand Angle, the person signing the registration form will receive confirmation of registration and an invoice within 15 days of cashing.

3/ Travel information

3.1. Administrative and health formalities

Before registering for your trip, you must check that each traveler, depending on their personal situation and nationality, is in possession of a valid passport or national identity card (CNI), the document that will be used to carry out the planned trip, as well as any other document(s)/ supporting documents (visa/exit permits, family record book, etc.) that are necessary and comply with the requirements for transiting and/or entering the country(ies) of the trip.

Grand Angle provides information on formalities for all French nationals. For other nationalities, we are at your disposal to help you with the formalities.

In order to organize your trip, we would like to inform you that certain countries and/or service providers (in particular, customs authorities, airlines, etc.) require the transmission of some of your personal data in order to complete forms and/or requirements relating to their reservation and/or control systems.

To this end, we may be obliged to communicate the following data to these service providers:

  • your surname, first name(s), date of birth and gender as they appear on the passport or identity card (if the destination allows it) that you will use for your trip and to complete transit or entry authorizations (visa, ESTA...),
  • data relating to a need for assistance (children, pregnant women, people with reduced mobility) or other.

It's important to note that if you need to fill in any administrative forms to complete your trip, you'll need to provide the same information as that sent to Grand Angle, i.e. surname, first name(s), date of birth and gender. Failure to comply with this procedure may result in refusal of entry (transit or final destination).

A traveler who is unable to use the transport tickets made available to them because they fails to present the required police, customs and/or health documents will not be entitled to any refund of the price of their trip. Grand Angle cannot, under any circumstances, be held responsible for the consequences of the traveler's failure to comply with police, customs or health regulations prior to or during the trip (e.g. loss of identity papers).

3.2. Information on safety and health risks

Before you leave, Grand Angle advises you to regularly consult the “country information sheet” for the country(ies) you are planning to visit on the French website of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), under the heading “Conseils aux voyageurs” (“Travel advice”) or equivelant from your own country.

Grand Angle may ask you to sign the MEAE form for the country(ies) you are visiting or passing through, as part of its obligation to provide information. This request does not constitute a waiver of responsibility.

Grand Angle also recommends that you regularly consult the information on risks in the country(ies) you are traveling to, and the recommendations available on the websites of the French Ministry of Solidarity and Health and the World Health Organization.

3.3. Physical fitness/accessibility

Each traveler is responsible for ensuring that their physical condition is suitable for the planned trip. Grand Angle cannot be held responsible for any physical inadequacy revealed during the trip. Grand Angle reserves the right not to accept any participant who does not meet the fitness requirements specified in the technical data sheet, and may refuse to allow any participant to continue their trip if this proves dangerous, both for the participant and for the other members of the group, without the participant being able to contest the decision taken by Grand Angle and request any compensation or reimbursement in this respect.

Our tours can accommodate minors accompanied by an adult, provided that their age and physical fitness allow them to complete the tour under normal conditions.

Our tours require varying degrees of physical involvement, depending on the level of fitness required, and are therefore not adaptable and/or accessible to all.

We invite you to contact us for further information on the accessibility of our tours and for any requests for assistance, particularly at the airport and/or during the journey.

3.4. Minors

Registration requests from minors under 18 who wish to undertake a trip unaccompanied by their parents or guardians, subject to Grand Angle's prior agreement, must be signed by the father, mother or legal guardian and marked “agreement of father, mother or guardian”.

Since January 15, 2017, an authorization to leave the country, for any French minor traveling abroad without at least one parent or legal guardian, is mandatory. Minors traveling without at least one of their parents or legal guardians must present the following three documents:

  • The minor's identity document: national identity card or passport, depending on the requirements of the destination country.
  • Authorization to leave the country form, signed by one of the parents holding parental authority (information available at www.service-public.fr)
  • Photocopy of the signing parent's identity card.

Depending on the destination, certain other administrative documents may be required.

Please note that the authorization to leave the country applies to all minors traveling without at least one parent, whether or not they have a passport. For minors traveling with a parent, guardian or other adult, it is the responsibility of the latter to ensure that they are in possession of the necessary documents (family record book and national identity card or passport and, where applicable, authorization to leave the country). In any case, underage travelers should always carry the contact details (name, address and telephone number) of their parents or legal guardians, so as to be able to establish direct contact with them.

4/ Modifications or Interruption of services requested by the traveller

4.1. Transport services

After the trip has been booked, any change to the ticket, and in particular to the name(s) of the traveller(s), may result in additional charges and/or penalties, the amount of which must be paid by the traveller(s) to Grand Angle before departure. Grand Angle will invoice the actual costs and add a €50 service charge per person.

4.2. Other services

After registration for the trip and before the departure date, the costs incurred by any request for modification, such as:

  • additions or deletions of travel services,
  • change of departure date,

will be charged to the traveler and must be paid by any means to Grand Angle. Any modification will incur a minimum charge of €50 per file. In the absence of payment, Grand Angle cannot be held responsible for making the desired changes.

From the date of departure, any request for modification and/or non-fulfilment of all or part of the travel services will not give rise to any reimbursement of the initial services. Any new service requested during the trip must be paid for in advance with Grand Angle or the designated service providers.

4.3. Assignment of contract

In accordance with article R 211-7 of the French Tourism Code, you may assign your contract to a transferee (purchaser) who fulfils the same conditions as you to make the trip as long as the contract has not produced any effect. You are required to inform Grand Angle of your decision by any written means capable of producing an acknowledgement of receipt, and no later than seven days before the start of the trip. In the event of a contract transfer, the transferor and/or transferee must first pay the costs incurred by the transfer, which will be communicated to you by your consultant.

5/ Cancellation conditions and fees / Resolution

5.1. Cancellation by the traveller

If you find yourself obliged to cancel your trip before it begins (departure date), you must inform:

  • Grand Angle and the insurer by any written means capable of producing an acknowledgement of receipt, as soon as the event giving rise to the cancellation occurs. The date of receipt of the written notice will be taken as the cancellation date for the purpose of invoicing cancellation fees.
  • The insurance premium, registration fees, visa and passport fees, and part of the air taxes are non-refundable, either by Grand Angle or by the insurer.
  • When several travelers are registered on the same BI and one of them cancels their trip, cancellation fees are deducted from the sums collected by Grand Angle, regardless of who made the payment.
  • In the event of cancellation, for any reason whatsoever, expenses incurred by the traveler(s) that are not part of the trip booked with Grand Angle, such as transportation to and from the place of departure, visa fees, travel documents, vaccination costs, will not be reimbursed.
5.1.1 Cancellation due to the traveller for all trips, excluding customized/privatized trips, cruises and dry flights

In the event of cancellation of your trip, the following cancellation/resolution fees will be charged:

  • More than 60 days before departure: 25% of the total price;
  • From 60 to 31 days: 35% of the total price;
  • 30 to 21 days before departure: 40% of total price;
  • 20 to 14 days before departure: 55% of total price;
  • 13 to 7 days before departure: 70% of total price;
  • 6 to 2 days before departure: 75% of total price;
  • Less than 2 days before departure or no-show: 95% of total price.

In the case of group bookings, your cancellation may result in cost changes (single room supplement, for example) for the remaining person(s). You will be responsible for these costs, in addition to those indicated above.

Special case of airfares, regardless of the date of cancellation or modification of the contract: these fees are in addition to the above scale: if your plane ticket has to be issued a long time in advance, often to avoid significant supplements, you will be billed 100% of the non-refundable fees in the event of cancellation or modification of your flight plan. In this case, the above scale only applies to the price of the trip without the flight.

In the case of “self-guided” trips: if there are only 2 people in a file, the cancellation of one person may, for safety reasons, automatically result in the cancellation of the second person.

5.1.2 Cancellation due to the traveler for customized/privatized trips

If one or more travellers booked on a privatized/tailor-made trip cancel their participation in a trip maintained for the other participants, the person(s) cancelling will be charged :

  • The cancellation fees referred to in article 5.1.1 above, unless otherwise specified in the contract, as well as
  • Expenses and/or other costs incurred by Grand Angle to maintain the subscribed trip at the same price for participants already registered and who continue to take part in the trip. In any case, the price of a privatized and/or customized trip is set according to a specific number of participants and the services required to carry out the trip. The cancellation of one or more participants therefore has a direct impact on the price of the trip for all remaining participants. These additional costs are to be borne by the participant(s) who cancel(s) their participation in the trip.
5.1.3 Cancellation due to the traveller for all cruises and/or trips with accommodation on a boat

In the event of cancellation of your trip, the following cancellation/resolution fees will be charged:

  • More than 91 days before departure: 25% of the total price
  • 90 to 42 days: 55% of total price
  • 41 to 30 days: 75% of total price
  • 29 to 15 days before departure: 90% of total price
  • 14 days or more before departure or no-show: 100% of total price

Special case of airfares, regardless of the date of cancellation or modification of the contract: these fees are in addition to the above scale: if your air ticket has to be issued well in advance, often to avoid significant supplements, you will be charged 100% of the non-refundable fees in the event of cancellation or modification of your flight plan. In this case, the above scale only applies to the price of the trip without the flight.

5.1.4 Cancellation due to the traveller for dry flights

The airline's cancellation policy applies.

5.1.5 Special cases

Exceptionally, some trips may have different cancellation conditions. In such cases, you'll find them mentioned in the technical data sheets; these are the ones that will apply in the event of cancellation on your part.

5.2. Cancellation by Grand Angle

5.2.1. Cancellation due to insufficient number of participants

Exceptionally, we may be forced to cancel a departure if the minimum number of participants required is not reached. You will be notified of this decision no later than :

  • 20 days before the start of the trip or holiday for trips lasting more than 6 days;
  • 7 days before the start of the trip or stay for trips lasting between 2 and 6 days;
  • 48 hours before the start of the trip or stay for trips lasting no more than 2 days.

You may be offered an alternative solution. If the proposed alternatives do not suit you, your payments will be refunded in full, without further compensation. All expenses incurred by you remain your responsibility (purchase of travel tickets, hotel, etc.).

5.2.2. Cancellation due to a local risk situation (political, health, natural disaster) may also occur, in which case the provisions of article 10 herein will apply.

6/ Insurance

Based on the documents you provide, the insurance company will assess the date of the triggering event leading to the decision to cancel the trip in order to reimburse the cancellation costs.

6.1 Travel insurance contracts

Grand Angle has negotiated and taken out 5 insurance packages with ASSURINCO ASSURANCE VOYAGE operating under the XPLORASSUR brand, a FINAXY subsidiary:

  • Multi-risk insurance with special coverage for epidemics and pandemics under contract no. 4312 (rate: 4.85% incl. VAT of the total cost of the contract)

The insurance premium, visa fees and registration fees are non-refundable by either Grand Angle or the insurer. Please note! These contracts are offered to people whose legal and fiscal domicile is in Western Europe or in the COM, DROM, POM. If this is not the case, Grand Angle can offer contracts adapted to the needs of the person concerned.

6.2 Waiver period

If you were already covered for the same benefits by another insurance contract, we inform you that you have a 14-day waiver period relating solely to the insurance taken out and provided that it has not produced any effect.

6.3 Repatriation assistance

Grand Angle requires all its customers to be covered for repatriation assistance, civil liability and search and rescue expenses during their trip. If you do not subscribe to the ASSURINCO ASSURANCE VOYAGE – XPLORASSUR contracts offered by Grand Angle, you undertake to be covered elsewhere for Repatriation Assistance, Civil Liability and Search and Rescue Expenses, and you provide Grand Angle with the details (company, contract number(s) and contacts) before your departure.

7/ Transport conditions

7.1. Carrier identity

You will be informed of the identity of the carrier or carriers likely to provide transport during your trip. In the event of a change occurring after your registration, Grand Angle undertakes to inform you by any means, as soon as it becomes aware of them, of any changes in the identity of the carrier or carriers, particularly airlines. In accordance with our obligation, we inform you that the European list of prohibited airlines can be consulted on this site.

7.2. Change of transport timetable

For air transport, we inform you that flight schedules may vary up to the start of the trip, depending on the traffic authorizations given to the airlines by the relevant authorities. We will inform you of flight times as soon as they are confirmed by the carrier.

Stopover times are generally determined by the airlines, according to their flight plans; they may be modified, without this constituting grounds for cancellation without charge.

Flights can take place at any time on the scheduled day, and may involve arriving at the airport a few hours before the start of the day, up to a maximum of 3 hours before.

7.3. Change of route, station, port and/or airport

Any carrier may be required to modify without notice not only the timetable but also the itinerary as well as the stations, ports and/or airports of departure and destination, in particular due to technical, climatic or political incidents external to Grand Angle or strikes external to Grand Angle. These events may result in delays, cancellations, additional stopovers, changes of aircraft or routes. In the case of air travel, the passenger holding a boarding pass remains under the protection and assistance of the airline.

7.4. Failure to provide transport services

In the event of non-fulfilment of the reserved transport service by the passenger, for any reason outside Grand Angle's control, the outward and/or return transport ticket will be cancelled by the carrier. The traveler will then have to purchase one or more tickets at their own expense in order to complete the trip. For air tickets, boarding taxes for unused tickets are reimbursed on request (art L 224-66 C. consom.).

7.5. Delay / Cancellation of transport services

In the event of a delay in transportation to or from the trip and/or damage to or loss of baggage, denied boarding and/or flight cancellation by the airline, we recommend that the traveler retain all original documents (tickets, boarding passes or baggage tags, etc.) to enable them to assert their rights, and request written proof from the carrier.

Should the participant(s) decide to cancel the trip due to the above-mentioned modifications, even though they do not affect one of the essential elements of the trip, they will be charged the cancellation/rescission fees referred to in article 5.1 above.

7.6. Luggage

The airline is solely responsible for damage, theft, loss or delay of baggage entrusted to it. It is up to you to report the loss or damage to the airline at the airline counter at the airport, and in writing as soon as possible. International conventions define the time limits for lodging protests and the compensation payable by the air carrier in the event of late delivery or damage to baggage.

Passengers are responsible for keeping fragile and valuable personal belongings (glasses, electronic equipment, documents, etc.) with them at all times, and for ensuring that their luggage is present when transfers are organized.

8/ Special terms and conditions of our trips

8.1. Pre-trip and return transport

For each traveler who organizes their own pre-departure services (transportation, hotel, etc.) to the place where the trip begins and to their home upon return from the trip, Grand Angle recommends purchasing services (transportation tickets and other services, etc.) that can be modified and/or reimbursed, and allowing for reasonable transfer times between airports/ports/stations.

In the event of an unforeseeable or unavoidable event caused by a third party or by the traveler, which would modify the travel services subscribed with Grand Angle and/or would imply the modification of the services reserved by the traveler(s) (not included in your trip), Grand Angle cannot be held responsible for reimbursing the expenses incurred.

8.2. Animals

Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring animals of any kind on our tours, unless otherwise specified and expressly agreed between the customer and Grand Angle (in the case of certain self-guided tours, for example). Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the trip without refund.

9/ Financial terms and conditions

9.1. Prices

The prices applicable on the day of registration are those available on the Site for a trip, or those of a valid quote for any other customized trip. They apply from the pick-up point for the start of the trip to the drop-off point on the last day of the trip. The services included and not included during the trip are specified on the technical data sheets, available at any time on the Site or on request.

9.2 Registration and processing fees

For all registrations, a fee of 17 € per person aged 10 and over will be charged.
For all registrations for a self-guided trip less than 15 days before departure, an additional fee of €40 per file will be charged.

9.3. Price revision terms

The price of the trip is firm, definitive and stated in euros. However, in accordance with article L211-12 of the French Tourism Code, up to 20 days before departure, Grand Angle may make upward or downward price adjustments, provided they are not significant, without the possibility of cancellation/rescission at no cost to you, to take account of variations in:

- The price of passenger transport resulting from the cost of fuel or other energy sources;
- The level of taxes or fees on travel services included in the contract, imposed by a third party not directly involved in the execution of the contract, including tourist taxes, landing taxes or embarkation and disembarkation taxes at ports and airports;
- Exchange rates relevant to the contract: changes in the cost of foreign currency will apply only to the amount of foreign currency used in calculating the price of the trip.

Grand Angle will then invoice the customer for the full additional cost incurred. Refusal to pay this price adjustment will be considered as a cancellation/resolution on the part of the traveler, for which article 5.1 will be applied.

10/ Liability

10.1. Public liability insurance

In accordance with professional regulations, Grand Angle is insured for professional liability by Helvetia Compagnie Suisse d'Assurance located at 81 boulevard Carnot - 31000 Toulouse, France.

10.2. Risks incurred

Each participant is aware that they may run certain risks inherent to the practice of hiking/cycling and due, in particular, to the remoteness of medical centers. They assume these risks with full knowledge of the facts, and undertakes not to hold Grand Angle or the various service providers responsible for any accidents that may occur as a result of these risks. This also applies to the beneficiaries and family members of any participant. Grand Angle cannot be held responsible for an accident due to personal carelessness, a personal error in the itinerary or a voluntary interruption during the trip (particularly for climatic reasons).

10.3 Responsibility of Grand Angle

Grand Angle cannot be held responsible for the consequences of the following events:

-Loss or theft of tickets by the traveler(s).

-Failure to present to the authorities and/or carriers (airlines, etc.) the administrative and/or health documents required to undertake the trip and/or cross borders, in accordance with the information provided by Grand Angle. - Arrival after the scheduled time for check-in and/or boarding of any transport, particularly air transport. Grand Angle will not reimburse the cost of the ticket in this case.

-Unforeseeable or unavoidable events of a third party such as: war, political unrest, strikes outside Grand Angle, riots outside Grand Angle, technical or administrative incidents outside Grand Angle, airspace congestion, bad weather, delays (including mail forwarding services...), breakdowns, loss or theft of luggage or other personal effects of travelers.

-Cancellation imposed by exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, and/or for reasons related to maintaining the safety of passengers, and/or injunction by an administrative authority: in this case, Grand Angle reserves the right to modify the dates, schedules or itineraries planned in order to ensure the safety of passengers, without any possible recourse on the part of the latter.

The person making the registration in the name and on behalf of the participants in the trip undertakes to transmit to each traveler the information provided by Grand Angle concerning the trip in such a way that Grand Angle cannot be held responsible for any defect or omission in the communication of this information.

In the event that Grand Angle's liability is called into play due to the actions of service providers, the limits of compensation provided for by international conventions will be applied, in accordance with article L 211-17-IV of the French Tourism Code. Except in the case of personal injury, Grand Angle's maximum financial liability will be equal to three times the total price of the trip.

11/ Complaints

The emergency number is given to you on the documents provided by Grand Angle; it is also indicated on Grand Angle's out-of-hours telephone message. In the event of a complaint, your failure to report any non-conformity in the provision of services during your trip will be taken into account, where applicable, if it could have financial consequences.
