Beyond the famous beaches, the Cyclades offer a unique paradise for hikers. This archipelago is crisscrossed with ancient trails, once used by locals, that connect traditional villages, secluded chapels, and breathtaking viewpoints. Walking here means immersing yourself in a landscape where history and nature intertwine, from archaeological sites scattered across the hills to terraced fields and wild coastlines. It's an opportunity to experience the islands' authentic soul, far from the summer crowds, and to be rewarded with not just incredible views but also the warm hospitality of local tavernas along the way.
At Grand Angle, we believe in offering choices that fit your travel style in Greece. We have crafted two distinct experiences to explore the magic of the Cyclades on foot, focusing on some of the most genuine and less-crowded islands like Sifnos, Milos, and Kimolos.
For those who cherish independence, our self-guided trip in the Cyclades lets you explore at your own pace. Equipped with a detailed roadbook and our logistical support, you have the freedom to set your schedule, linger at a favorite viewpoint, or take a spontaneous swim. This is the perfect formula for a self-guided hiking holiday, combining adventure with the serenity of knowing everything is perfectly organized for you.
Join our Cyclades Dream for a guided group tour that hops between the beautiful islands of Sifnos, Milos, and Kimolos. Let a local expert lead the way, sharing insights into the culture and nature you won't find in guidebooks. Traveling with a small group adds a friendly dynamic to the journey, allowing you to share discoveries and enjoy a completely carefree experience where every detail is managed.
The best seasons for hiking in the Cyclades are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). During these months, the weather is pleasant for walking, the landscapes are vibrant with wildflowers in the spring or bathed in a soft autumn light, and the trails are much less crowded. You'll also find the sea is still warm enough for swimming in the fall. For more ideas, see our suggestions for visiting the Cyclades in the low season.
A successful hiking trip starts with good preparation. Sturdy, broken-in hiking shoes are essential for the varied terrain. The Greek sun is strong, so be sure to pack a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen. Layering is key; lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing will keep you comfortable, and a fleece or light jacket is useful for cooler evenings or windy ridges. For a comprehensive checklist, consult our day hike packing list.
Travelers who enjoyed the blend of coastal trails and island culture in the Cyclades often find similar appeal in our other Europe hiking tours. Consider a journey to another iconic Greek island with our hiking tour in Crete, renowned for its dramatic gorges and rich history. If the allure of the Mediterranean calls to you, the cliffside villages of our Cinque Terre tours in Italy offer a different yet equally captivating experience. And for those looking to explore Greece on two wheels, our Greece bike tours provide another fantastic way to discover the country's stunning landscapes.

— These are some really beautiful hikes, but June 10–19 is a little too late in the season because of the heat. For most of the hikes, it’s impossible to set out early due to bus schedules and breakfast times at the hotels.
