Self-Guided Travel

Grand Angle is one of the pioneers of self-guided travel dating back to the 1980s. You will be dealing with an adventure recreation specialist who knows the terrain inside and out in the areas we operate our tours.

How does it work?

For a given itinerary:

  • Grand Angle organizes your entire trip and takes care of everything (accommodation, luggage transport, transfers, gear rental, etc.);

  • on the departure date of your choice;

  • you're the guide: Grand Angle provides you with the necessary maps and topographical guides;

  • you also receive a complete travel packet with vouchers and useful practical information (transportation timetables, where to eat, what to visit, etc.);

  • you benefit from our 24-hour telephone assistance service;

  • How big is a self-guided group? From 2 people (1 on some itineraries), up to 30+! But you decide; no one joins your group. All self-guided trips are "private".

The advantages of a self-guided trip...

  • 100% vacation, 100% independence: the pleasure of travel, without the burden of organizing logistics or having the constraints of group travel.

  • Flexibility in departure dates, which can be very convenient when you want to take advantage of the cheapest flight options.

  • No risk of trip cancellation due to inadequate group sign-ups.

  • Variable difficulty: stages often offer several options to be better adaptable to your exact needs and desires.

  • You choose your travel companions.

  • The day unfolds at your own pace.

  • Cultural visits: the choice is yours to take advantage of local sites or not during any stage.

  • You benefit from the local knowledge of our professionals: the assurance of discovering the most beautiful places curated by our team.

  • Assistance and safety: you'll have access to Grand Angle's 24-hour emergency number. What's more, our long-standing partners - cabs, hotels, mountain huts and refuges - are always on the lookout for you, and let us know immediately if you're running late.

  • Program flexibility: it's often possible to double a day, extend a stay, change a route or modify a specific stage.

  • Competitive value when compared to the cost of direct organization of personal and/or group logistics.

  • Luggage transport and organized transfers are included on most tours.

  • Several levels of accommodation comfort are often available.

  • Couples

  • Friends, groups of 2 to 30+ people

  • Sometimes a solo traveler (especially on our cycling tours)
