Guided Travel

Hiking with a guide is the genesis of Grand Angle, a team of mountaineers amazed by the beauty of the world, its nature and heritage, all driven by the desire to share this wonder with our guests from around the world.

How does it work?

  • This is a small-group trip, supervised by a specialized guide (EU certified mountain leader, ski instructor, etc.).

  • On dates predetermined by Grand Angle, from which you choose the one that best interests you.

  • Luggage is generally transported.

  • You can sign up on your own or as part of a larger group.

  • You don't know all the other people in the group, which makes for an exciting opportunity to meet new people,...

  • ...unless you are part of a private group, in which case we choose the date (and program!) together.

  • A group is generally made up of 4 to 14 people. In the case of a private group, the number can be larger.

The advantages of a guided trip...

The guide's contribution is a real "benefit"...

  • in terms of exploration, since they know the most beautiful places, as well as the fauna, flora, history and culture of the region;

  • in terms of safety and confidence (medically trained and EU certified);

  • for managing the pace of the hiking and the timing of each day;

  • for their professionalism and expertise in managing groups;

  • for adapting the itinerary if necessary, and for their ability to navigate unforeseen situations;

  • you'll meet a professional, passionate and interesting individual;

  • "0" worries & responsibility: everything is taken care of, so you don't have to worry about a thing!

The group advantage...

  • brings you both the warmth of meeting new people and a certain motivational dynamic that enables you to take part in outdoor activities;

  • is that some trips can only be offered to groups, due to costly transfers and luggage transportation, or itineraries that are too complicated;

  • gives the reassuring feeling of belonging and support.

FAQ

No, you'll be sharing your room with someone of your own gender. Or you can pay the single room supplement fee to have your own room (subject to availability).

Not necessarily; single rooms are in short supply in most destinations, especially during the high season. So book early for your best chance at securing a single room. Once you've made a firm reservation, we'll confirm availability (or not) as soon as possible.

No we do not allow canine friends. Often hotels or even destinations do not allow pets in rooms or on the trail.

It all depends on the specific trip and child; from the age of 10-12, some children can already do quite a lot of physical activity. Give us a call and we'll discuss it on a case by case basis.

Your guide will be able to modify the program if necessary or if their is a safety concern. Generally groups will still hike in the rain and often guests enjoy the experience,

It's important to know your level of fitness before you set off: don't hesitate to consult our "What's my level?" page and give us a call if you have any doubts. On site, the group is united and the guide will do their utmost to help you. They can also help you "skip" a stage (at your own expense). Unfortunately, if you really can't keep up at a normal pace, you'll have to leave the group; the guide has the right to ask you to do this, often for the safety of you and the group.

The guide will help you organize the necessary transfer... if it is possible. However, you will be responsible for any costs incurred by this extra transportation.

Prior to your departure, you will have received an invitation with the details of your first accommodation, the guide's telephone number and Grand Angle's emergency 24/7 telephone number. It's important to let us know as soon as possible, so that we don't keep the rest of the group waiting, and so that we can help you join them or get to your first accommodation. Any costs arising from your delay are your responsibility. It is usually not a problem to join the group late depending on the specific trip.

Generally, only your part of the group's picnic for that day.

With a few exceptions, this is not a problem. If the price without flights is not shown on the site, please contact us to request it.

We will organize the transfer for you, but will charge an additional fee.

Please refer to the trip description on the website. We can usually reserve an extra night(s) for you.

We usually make an exception to accept both of you if lodging availability allows.

Not necessarily; you need to love the outdoors and nature. There are trips for all ability levels, including beginners, but of course with a minimum level of physical fitness and experience of walking or cycling needed.
