Cycling is a unique way to travel, offering an intimate connection with the regions you visit. It allows you to discover discreet marvels, from hidden valleys to sun-drenched coastlines, at a pace that encourages contemplation. Europe, with its incredible diversity of landscapes and its dense network of cycle paths, is a prime destination for two-wheeled adventures. Each turn of the pedal is an opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture, savor regional specialties, and create lasting memories.
At Grand Angle, we believe a successful cycling trip is one where you can ride with peace of mind. That’s why we take care of booking charming accommodations and transporting your luggage between stages. You travel light during the day, carrying only what you need until you find your bags waiting for you at your evening stopover.
Our self-guided bike tours in Europe are designed for those who love independence. We provide you with a complete travel file, including detailed maps, a precise roadbook, and GPS tracks. You choose your departure date and pace, for an experience that is truly your own. It’s the perfect formula to discover must-see destinations like the Danube by bike or the châteaux of the Loire Valley with complete autonomy.
Imagine cycling through beautiful landscapes during the day and returning to your floating hotel in the evening. This is the promise of our bike and boat tours on the Danube or in Holland. This formula combines the pleasure of cycling with the charm of a river cruise, allowing you to discover several regions without changing accommodation. It’s a relaxing and original way to travel, where you can even choose to take a day off from cycling to enjoy the navigation from the deck.
From great rivers to sun-kissed islands and gastronomic heartlands, our selection of tours is designed to satisfy every cyclist’s desires.
The cycle paths along Europe’s rivers are often flat and accessible, making them ideal for all levels of cyclists. Let yourself be carried away by the current of the Danube, from Passau to Vienna or even to Budapest, for a true cultural immersion. In France, follow the royal path of the Loire by bike or pedal along the peaceful Canal de Garonne between Bordeaux and Toulouse.
For lovers of sea spray and coastal panoramas, nothing beats a trip along the French coast. Explore the Vélomaritime in Brittany or follow the Vélodyssée along the Atlantic. For a complete change of scenery, head to Greece for a cycling tour of Corfu Island, where turquoise coves and villages with authentic charm await.
Combine the pleasure of cycling with that of your taste buds on our tours through Europe’s most beautiful terroirs. Discover the prestigious vineyards of Burgundy by bike, explore the rolling hills of Tuscany between Florence and Siena, or treat yourself to a gastronomic journey in Emilia-Romagna, the heart of Italian cuisine.
The ideal season for a cycling trip in Europe is generally from spring to autumn. The months of May, June, and September often offer pleasant temperatures and optimal sunshine, avoiding the summer crowds. Each season has its charm: the blooming nature in spring, the long sunny days of summer, and the flamboyant colors of autumn.
A successful trip starts with good preparation. Even though we take care of the main logistics, it is important to choose a circuit adapted to your physical condition. Don’t forget to consult our advice on what to pack in your panniers in our guide to bike trip packing to make sure you don’t forget anything essential.
Want to share your passion for cycling with your loved ones? Several of our itineraries are perfectly suited for a family adventure. The Loire Valley bike tour, with its secure paths and numerous castles, is a classic choice that delights young and old alike. For more ideas, check out our blog post dedicated to a family cycling trip in the Loire.
If you enjoy exploring Europe by bike, you might also be tempted by our hiking tours in Europe, another way to immerse yourself in nature at your own pace. Many destinations are superb to discover through both activities, such as Austria or the magnificent landscapes of Germany. And for those who love to cover distances, our long-distance hiking trips, like the famous Tour du Mont Blanc, could be your next challenge. Do not hesitate to contact our experts to find your next adventure.

— A truly beautiful route. The Vercors in all its splendor and diversity. The progression in difficulty—both in terms of effort and technique—is perfect, and the accommodations, featuring a pool and excellent dining, are top-notch. The e-MTBs are of very high quality. The only minor suggestion for the app: include an alternative route at the exit from Valchivière, as the pedestrian path leading uphill is a bit tricky—it’s only 200 meters long in total, so it’s a very minor issue.

— That's wonderful, thank you. Personally, I would have liked to have a choice between different hotel categories, which would also allow travelers to tailor their trip to their preferences and budget.
Thank you for your feedback! We're delighted that you enjoyed your trip. Thank you also for your suggestion: we'll look into offering more accommodation options whenever possible. We look forward to helping you plan your next trip!

Marta 6/23/26 • Danube River - from Passau to Budapest
— For two weeks in late May and early June 2026, my partner and I cycled the Danube from Passau in Germany to Budapest in Hungary — roughly 650km over 12 riding days, with one rest day in Vienna. It was an unforgettable way to see Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants real immersion in a region rather than a postcard version of it. The Ride: Each day followed the river closely, which meant the scenery did the work for us: flat, well-paved trails through farmland, vineyards and forest, broken up by small riverside towns where we'd stop for a coffee or a Coke Zero and just take it in. Distances ranged from a gentle 40km to a punishing 73km, and the route quietly built our fitness and our saddle tolerance as it went. The landscape and feel of the trip changed noticeably as we crossed borders — Germany and Austria felt rural and easy, Slovakia had a slightly rougher, “Eastern Bloc” edge as we approached Bratislava, and Hungary's stretch into Győr and Budapest brought flatter farmland and a memorable ferry ride into the capital on our final afternoon. A heatwave hit partway through (low 30s and climbing), which made the cooler, overcast final days a relief. Accommodation: The hotels were a real highlight and varied wonderfully — corporate hotels in the bigger cities (a Marriott in Linz, the NH Danube City in Vienna, Three Corners Lifestyle in Budapest), and characterful converted monasteries in the smaller towns (Klassen Hotel in Győr, Altes Kloster in Hainburg). Standouts were the ones with strong showers and proper beds after a long day in the saddle, and the family-run Gasthof Zum Schwan in Traismauer felt like genuine local stays rather than tourist stops. Luggage transfer between hotels worked seamlessly throughout, which made the whole trip far less stressful and even though we arrived before the check-in time, each of the hotels did their best to accommodate us. The Food: Food was a daily adventure of its own — hearty German and Austrian breakfasts of cold meats, cheeses and coffee, black pudding and crackling pork in Linz, cheese boards and local wine in the smaller towns, and a fantastic, if relentless, final spread of fermented salad, goulash soup and pork knuckle just before the last day's ride. Vienna brought a welcome change of pace with a lively dinner with old friends, and small touches — an evening Aperol spritz, a local pub recommended by the hotel, a quiet soup shared after a long day — added up to some of the best memories of the trip. How it felt: What stayed with us most was the rhythm of it: pack, ride, arrive, shower, eat, sleep, repeat — and how that simplicity let the country come to us rather than the other way around. There were tough moments (saddle soreness, a sudden thunderstorm that soaked us at a castle ruin, bees, flies, bugs on the long straight stretches), but they were far outweighed by the quiet stretches of river trail, the small-town charm, and the satisfaction of rolling into Budapest having covered the whole 650km under our own power. It was equal parts physical challenge, cultural immersion and genuine relaxation, and easily one of the best trips we've done. In Summary: a beautifully organized, well-paced cycling trip through four countries, with excellent accommodation, memorable food, and a real sense of accomplishment at the finish line in Budapest. Highly recommended.
